Symposium »Theatre and Safe Spaces« // Prevention of Sexualised Violence in Cultural Institutions

Sat, October 15, 2022 // 9:00 am
Württembergische Landesbühne (Podium I)

Moderation: Susanne Rehm

Susanne Rehm studied theatre, film and television studies, art history and English studies in Bochum and Dublin. From 2011 to 2015, she was head of the state programme “Cultural Agents for Creative Schools” in Baden-Württemberg. For many years, she supervised numerous cultural projects of all kinds as a freelance cultural manager and taught “cultural management” and “international cultural management” at various universities. Today, she is the managing director of the Landesvereinigung Kulturelle Jugendbildung Baden-Württemberg e.V. (State Association for Cultural Youth Education).

Sexualised violence does not just happen – perpetrators plan it. Therefore, the protection of children and young people must be planned in order to minimise the risk of sexualised violence in cultural education for children and young people. A protection concept helps everyone in the project, club, institution or association. It orientates, informs and offers security of action. It protects children and adults. It strengthens staff members, volunteers and helps parents with orientation. This lecture raises awareness of this difficult topic, which is still all too often ignored.
